This beautiful statue of a mermaid sits by the sea at Playa Esterillos, south of Puntarenas, Costa Rica. When the tide is high, she disappears under water.

Hello, I found this beach about 4 years ago. A local in the area said the statue was erected because his small daughter was weshed away in the tide. I’m not sure if that is fact or just a story I was told.
