Vatu Vara for sale

The Fijian island of Vatu Vara is for sale.  It is $75M, fresh water supply is questionable, and you will have celebrity asshat Mel Gibson as your neighbor.  Other than that it looks great.

price:

$75,000,000 (USD)

The magnificent island of Vatu Vara is often referred to as ‘Hat Island’ because of it’s unusual shape. The island is reputed by many to be the most beautiful in Fiji. It’s unique topography with limestone cliffs covered in dense tropical jungle and the flat summit is like a cross between Bora Bora and ‘The Lost World’ of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. From the top of it jungle-clad 1,030 foot peak, to the bottom of it’s aquamarine lagoon this is 100% pure tropical paradise. All the cinematic clichés about tropical islands are here for real; and to continue the theme you even get Mel Gibson as a neighbour. He owns Mago island just 30 kilometres to the east.

Hello People of Yacata. Remember me working for Mr. Johnson? Sorry about Ba and my love to Feleti. I agree the island is yours, as is Nanunu. that is leased to Mr Johnson. I believe that Vatu Vara could not be sold without approval of the Fijian Land Council. Yes they could not develope it in any case without the help from Yacata. ha ha. I miss the people of Yacata, knowing you was one of life’s best experiences >rgfranklin@charter.net

If you have 75 mil. to purchase this island, you will need a few million more to develope it, for the bare necessities. Labor is not close, or is an airfield. There are private air strips on Mango and Kaimbu, 12 miles distant. All islands there collect water from rains. You need your own utility systems, power, water, sewerage, gas, and communications. Doctors? Forget it. I have been through this on other local island development. Just give me a 5 star hotel, and service. What is not secured will blow away or get stolden. How do you get your yacht inside the reef and into the lagoon? The fantasy is gone, but throwing enough money at anything may achieve it. Everything gets old with time. Vata Vara is a wonderful dream, but may end up your worst nightmare.

Vata Vara was purchased in 2010, and no longer for sale. Purchased by the same owner that purchased Kaimbu Island.

The attacking player, who never saw it coming as he was doing
it on his ‘looking away in the play’ routine (let’s give credit where it’s due),
was driven by the foot of justice in to the hard ground upon which he laid.
It usually gets them into predicaments and I’ll be damned if there’s
not someone always there video taping it. And remember, we’ve got Film – Drunk to thank for that one,
so be certain to stop on by and show ‘em some love.
