I am stunned. Mr. Hardie lives on the Big Island, and will get to enjoy his Ulua in its proper setting.
“And we sail and we sail and we never see land, just the rum in the bottle and a pipe in my hand…”

Wow! That motivates me to start building my Ulua. He built the OC version instead of the sail, cool.
That’s the bomb! He went for the OC version instead of the sailing canoe. She makes me want to start building.
Speaking of building, how’s your boat progressing?
oooooh…pretty…
I’m finishing the outer stems now. I think I will do the decks in Okume ply. Just back from four days camping on the beach and sailing the Norseboat with the girls at Tomales Bay, usual slowdown of progress.
If you follow the links you can read that Mr. Hardie does plan to sail his Ulua eventually. He has done kayaks and wave skis in cedar strip before, and has a lot of skill. The unique feature here is going manu-less. Have to be pretty confident to try and pull that off!
