Pacific Cup 2010 — First Test of Email Blogging

As some may know, I will be doing this year’s Pacific Cup race to
Hawai’i not on my own boat, but on VALIS, skippered by Paul Elliott with
a crew of 6, including intrepid fellow-blogger Edward of EVK4 SuperBlog. I’m using this
first post to explore ways to blog to NSL using minimal bandwidth by
posting text-only messages via email, which is possible on WordPress.
Posts are then pickup by a separate service and put on my facebook page,
for those that follow NSL there.

Right now, this involves setting up a cron job on my hosting provider, a
new thing for me. If it works I have some ambitions to automatically
fetch weather maps from some government sources.

Above should be a pic of VALIS heading out the gate. It’s going to be
an awesome adventure!

OMG, it worked the first time! Except for one mystery line break.
