The girls and I have another big project in the works, so we have decided to sell our beloved Searaven and let someone else have fun with her. See pricing, pics, and full specs here.
Some Russian rich guys exercise in luxury, some in ingenuity of their luxury. Like this shark-boat in St. Petersburg. It stayed for a few days parked near one of the city river banks then floated away driven by some another New Russian Rich Man.
So classy. From English Russia.
NSL got to go racing again last Saturday aboard Flying Tiger 10m Centomiglia in the YRA 2nd-Half Opener. Starting from just N. of Treasure Island, we beat out under the Golden Gate bridge to the Pt. Bonita buoy, and then ran back under spinnaker across the City Front to the Alameda channel to finish in front of the Encinal Yacht Club. Maybe later I will figure out how to get the speed info out of the GPS so readers can see us hitting 14.3 kts, and also some pretty fun broaches, too. Results are here. Since we only had 4 crew, I got to do a lot more, mostly on jib. Thanks guys for a great day!
Peggy showed me this a few months ago, it is still funny.

This weekend I saw USA305 on her trailer at Brickyard Cove, Richmond. So sweet, and so complicated!
Today was something of a landmark for me — my first-ever real sailboat race, and what a ride it was! Thanks to schoonerman and owner CazzaRanda, I was able to crew on the Flying Tiger 10m Centomiglia in today’s Sarcoma Cup, a pursuit race around the Bay from Berkeley, round Alcatraz and Angel Islands, and finishing in Richmond. The photo above show us as we left Racoon Straight headed for the finish. (I’ll certainly be buying a print to hang at home.)
I had a great time and learned more in a day than I would in 10 day-charters to nowhere. Pretty cool to see double digits on the speedo, too. A warm thank you to all the crew for their help and patience with a racing newbie.
