Okay, the truth can now be told.
I made that up. It was intended as a gentle parody of the harvard crest, featuring the word Veritas (ve ri tas) or “truth”

I am told that Navigo means to sail or navigate.

The colors, of course, are taken from our own PCYC burgee, as are the dolphins.

The old German family that rant the local meat store retired recently, and we have to drive 2 hours to get a good landjaeger. Nice to hear the boat is officially approved!

Since I wrote this Bryan Chong, one of the surviving crew of Low Speed Chase has issued a statement that describes the events of that day, and corrects some of the details as I reported above. It should be read by anyone sailing on the ocean.

Thanks for your account… I was on a boat that was very close with Temerity all day … Just shortly behind her… and in coming within view of Low Speed Chase on the rocks… It was only my 2nd ocean race, personally… It’s been hard to get the events of the day out if my mind… Every little “piece” of the puzzle that I read helps me to reconcile my own recollection of the day… Thanks

Very sorry to hear about this loss. Along with the Clipper race it reminds one of the power of sea and waves in particular – and why if in doubt clip that harness on.
